Commemoration of the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp on the 27th of January 1945. Karski Quartet and Raphael Wallfisch will perform Szymon Laks's String quartet no. 3, the composition of which followed the tragic experiences of the composer in Nazi concentration and prison camps, and Schubert's famous string quintet. The performance of Laks's string quartet will be framed by a short lecture and a Questions and Answers session, led by Katarzyna Naliwajek - lecturer at the Department of Music Theory and Aesthetics of the Institute of Musicology, Warsaw University, and internationally acclaimed researcher with a special interest in 20th century and World War 2-period music.
